This week, Ben and I began a new unit study from Amanda Bennett Unit Studies, called Autumn Treasures. This is the first installment in a new series, called Download N Go, that combines the joy of unit studies with the fun of lapbooking in a one-week scheduled format. I think we are going to love this series. First of all, we all know how much I love unit studies AND lapbooks! Add to that a nice one-week schedule, clickable links and just the most beautiful graphics, and the DNG format is just perfect for us.
There will be more seasonal installments coming: Winter Wonders, Spring Surprises, and Summer Sensations, so I think Ben and I will be creating a Book of Seasons using one of our Barebook spirals, rather than individual lapbooks.
To add to our fun, I planned some co-op activities to go along with this unit. Most weeks, our little, 3-family co-op only gets together once a week or so, but this week we are making it 3 days! Today we worked on some leaf activities: leaf rubbings and leaf collages. The kids had a great time!
These are the books we read:
Red Leaf, Yellow Leaf by Lois Ehlert
Why Do Leaves Change Color by Betsy Maestro
Look What I Did with a Leaf by Morteza Sohi
