DIY Autumn Spice Essential Oil Blend Recipe

It’s that time of year when I used to love pulling out the autumn scented candles to fill my home with the comforting smells of cinnamon, orange, and apples. However, candles are pretty toxic when you start learning more about them.

I’ve replaced my candles with essential oil diffusers in the past couple of years, and this fall, I spent some time perfecting a recipe for an autumn scent that reminds me of those bygone days of candles.

I love that I can combine the wonderful scents of fall with the health-giving properties of essential oils.

There’s no apple in this recipe, but it’s okay, because the oils I’ve combined in this blend are so delicious you’ll never miss them.

Essential oil with cinnamon and anise seed

Ingredients

30 drops cinnamon leaf essential oil

30 drops ginger essential oil

20  drops clove bud essential oil

20 drops orange essential oil

Directions

Add all essential oils to a glass bottle (like these).  Screw cap on tightly and invert the bottle to blend the oils. Do not shake. Add 5 or 6 drops to your diffuser and enjoy! This blend can also be used on your skin as an uplifting scent. Be sure to dilute with a carrier oil before applying (I use jojoba oil).

I’m not a distributor of any of the common “MLM” essential oil companies (find out why), but I have found a couple of companies that I love and buy from. One such company is Rocky Mountain Oils (formerly Native American Nutritionals). The links in the recipe above are to their store. I also buy frequently from Plant Therapy. Certainly, if you have a favorite essential oils supplier, use them.

Precautions

Never use essential oils undiluted, in the eyes or mucus membranes. Do not ingest unless working with a qualified practitioner. Keep essential oils away from children. If applying an essential oil to your skin always perform a small patch test to an insensitive part of the body (after you have properly diluted the oil in an appropriate carrier oil).
