Determine never to be idle. No person will have occasion to complain of the want of time who never loses any. It is wonderful how much may be done if we are always doing. ~Thomas Jefferson

These are certainly words Thomas Jefferson lived by as we learned more about him, visiting his home in Charlottesville, VA — Monticello.

The short list of Thomas Jefferson’s accomplishments, and the only ones he wished to be remembered by included:

  • Writing the Declaration of Independence
  • Writing the Statute of Virginia for Religious Freedom
  • Father of the University of Virginia

But there is so much more to the story. I won’t ruin it all for you now, I’m mostly just going to share some pictures, but if you’re interested, you can learn  more about the United States’ 3rd President (how’s that for an accomplishment!) and his gorgeous estate at the Monticello website. If you ever get the chance to visit, take it. Monticello is beautiful and worth a detour wherever you are heading near Virginia.
