If you live in or near Kentucky, especially in Louisville, then the most fun time of year is almost upon you….the Kentucky Derby! And if you don’t live close by, well this might be the right time to learn more about Louisville’s primary claim to fame.
I recently completed a unit study on the Kentucky Derby. You’ll also find a lapbook to complete as you work through the unit.
Aware that many of you may not have as many “Derby” related books available in your library, I included quite a few weblinks as well, so you can explore all the history and joy of this time of year with those of us who are blessed to live close by and participate in the festivities.
Let me know what you think and feel free to ask any questions. For those of you who may be concerned, I left out any info about “purses,” paramutual betting, and gambling, in general. You’ll mostly just learn about the history, the horses, the people, and the festivities.
