Relaxing Magnesium Oil Spray Recipe

There are two reasons I combine magnesium with lavender essential oil to make my Calming Magnesium Oil — both Ben and I struggle with sleeping well, and for my muscle aches related to fibromyalgia. Alone, each of these products is helpful for both. Together, they are amazing.

Relaxing Magnesium Oil Spray Recipe

  • 1/2 cup filtered water
  • 1/2 cup magnesium chloride flakes (I use Ancient Minerals)
  • 240 drops lavender essential oil (10% dilution)
  • glass spray bottle (I use these 4 oz amber bottles)
  1. Place the magnesium flakes in a glass bowl or measuring cup I use a pyrex measuring cup that pours easily. Bring the water to a boil. Pour the water over the magnesium flakes and stir until dissolved. When cool, add the lavender oil and pour into your spray bottle.
  2. Spray it on to the body and gently rub it in.

Store at room temperature for up to 6 months. Gently shake before each use.

Don’t forget, Rocky Moutain Oils is offering my readers a 20% discount on your entire purchase if you use the coupon code: BenandMe20.

For muscle aches, I spray the formula directly onto whichever muscles are hurting and gently rub it in, up to about 30 sprays. Typically for me, this includes my upper back, shoulders and thighs. When you first begin using it, it does sting. It  is important to leave it on your skin for about 30 minutes. After that you can wash it off or take a shower. It’s also fine if you don’t. The stinging improves over time.

To help him sleep, I use about 10 sprays on Ben’s back and gently rub it in.

Here’s a tip for you — don’t spray this stuff on your legs after you shave. You’ve been warned.

Precautions

Never use essential oils undiluted, in the eyes or mucus membranes. Do not ingest unless working with a qualified practitioner. Keep essential oils away from children. If applying an essential oil to your skin always perform a small patch test to an insensitive part of the body (after you have properly diluted the oil in an appropriate carrier oil).
