Today was our field trip to the Louisville Equestrian Center (LEC). This gorgeous new facility opened this past October and is just bustling with activity. We had about 50 homeschooled kids enjoy the afternoon. Each child received a 45-minute horseback riding lesson, in groups of 8, followed by instruction in basic horse care and grooming, and finally a tour of the facility.
Ben has been in love with horses forever, and has begged for a riding lesson for the past 6 months. So, needless to say, he was ecstatic at this opportunity to ride and learn. Ben’s horse’s name was Webster and he could not stop hugging on him. In the riding lesson, Ben learned how to mount and dismount the horse, give basic commands to start, stop, and lead the horse, and how to trot. He was so excited to get to trot!
The day was gorgeous, so we ended the day by visiting the horses (and donkey!) that were out in the paddock area. Ben could have stayed all day and I know he’ll be begging me to go back. The LEC is only about 5 miles from our house, so….
Here are a few pictures of our day. The lighting was tricky, so the pictures aren’t the best, but I think you’ll be able to see the joy!
