Writing reviews has been a part of the Ben and Me blog for many years. Every year, we have been blessed with the opportunity to share about many different products — books, toys, games, homeschool curriculum, and more.

I’m careful about what products we accept for review, so rarely does anything completely bomb, but sometimes the opposite happens — we love a product so much we just can’t stop talking about it. Today, I want to share with you some of those reviews from 2014. If you missed them, I want you to have the chance to check them out!

Word Up

I knew this fun video “game show” for learning vocabulary from Latin and Greek roots was going to be a hit when Ben constantly asked to watch, “just one more video.” He practically did only vocabulary for homeschool for two solid weeks!

Fort Magic Fort Building Kit

This fort building toy was a blast! We took it to a friend’s house and had some fun team-building exercises. Ben still uses it’s party to create other toys as well — like swords and flag poles for playing Capture the Flag with neighborhood kids. But building forts is cool at any age, and this kit one of the best I’ve seen.

Philippians in 28 Weeks

I am convinced that training them in memorizing Scripture is one of the most important things we can do for our children. Not only does having verses from the Bible memorized help them share and defend their faith, it puts the thoughts of God right there in their minds, so that when they are tempted, they can recall what God has to say about certain situations. I cannot think of a better book to begin memorizing right away than Philippians. Philippians in 28 Weeks makes it very simple and fun. It’s also part Bible study.

Trident iPad Case

If you have an iPad, iPhone or other device that needs protecting, Trident has you covered. It’s military-tough and will help you feel better about handing over that expensive tablet to even your youngest kids.

Ocarina FUNdamentals Package

Ben loves music, but squeezing in music lessons has been challenging this year. He was excited to receive this ocarina and teaching DVD. It resonated with him right away and within a couple of days, he was learning to play some of his favorite songs. If you have kids who would enjoy learning an instrument but you have financial or time constraints, this is a great place to start them.

JORD Wood Watch

I know .  . . who gets to review a watch, right? I was so blessed to receive this one. It’s a beautiful, unique, and functional gift. I love my JORD watch and think you would, too.

An Amish Second Christmas

I adore Tricia Goyer (both personally and as a writer), so I’m always thrilled to receive any of her books for review. This one is co-authored by a few more talented ladies, too. If you enjoy Amish fiction, I think you’ll enjoy this one. And it’s not just for Christmas reading!

The Wise Woman with Literary Analysis Journal Questions

This book with literary questions went with us on a trip to Florida this year. I read the first half in the car on the way down and expected to read the second half on the trip home. Only that never happened because Ben read the rest of it while we were on vacation. It’s the kind of book that you don’t want to stop reading, and all the while it’s building character, making you think, and giving your family so many things to discuss.
