Y was another challenging letter this week. I even asked on Facebook for suggestions. I even said I would try to work the suggested words into this post. Here is a sampling of the words I got:

yodel, yo-yo, yuletide
yams, yak, yarrow
Yugoslavia, yakuza,
yum, yarn, Yoda
yo, yippee, yes
Yahtzee, yurts, Yani

But my favorite word was yellow.

Yellow has been my favorite color for a very long time. Recently, it was almost overtaken by lime green and orange — I love them, too — but those are just fads. Ten years from now, I think I will still love yellow. It’s just so bright and sunny. Yellow makes me happy.

But blogging about yellow wouldn’t be very much fun if I didn’t have pictures of yellow things, right? So, I looked through the photos of our recent vacation to Florida and found some. Not too many, but a few. I hope you enjoy.

And to those of you who made suggestions for Y words. Thank YOU! I wish I had the time and imagination to work them all into one post!

Now for the pictures . . .

We spent the most time during our 2-week trip in Miami. The reason for that is depicted in the photo of Ben below — the Coconut Grove Arts Festival was celebrating it’s 50th year. Tom and I both love art festivals and we have a lovely one in the fall here in Louisville — St. James. But, this one in Miami is ranked #1 in the country. It was amazing! We met artisans from literally all over the world. I bought a gorgeous necklace for myself. But since it’s lime green, not yellow, I’ll wait to share it with you later.

The hotel where we stayed in Coconut Grove served free breakfast. That’s always a perk we look for in hotels. With most, you’re fortunate to get hot oatmeal, but this place served an incredible hot breakfast every morning. It was a great start to our day and saved us a ton of money! Oh, and it was yummy!

Yes! Another picture of food. This area of Florida is very proud of their key limes and especially their key lime pie. We ate these gorgeous slices at a little cafe located in the Fruit and Spice Park — one of Florida’s many incredible state parks. Fruit and Spice is located near Homestead, FL and the cafe is called Mango Cafe. I also had the best lobster rolls ever there.

Did you know that key limes are yellow, not green?

Our next stop after Miami was Key West. One day we were walking along the main more “touristy” area — Duval Street. This adorable tea shop was on one of the side streets near Duval. These tea cups were in the window. Aren’t they cute? I heart tea. And tea cups.

Key West has the most incredible sunsets I have ever seen. I captured this one as we left the Florida Keys, heading home. What a gracious gift from the Creator!

On our journey home we hopped off the highway to find a local citrus farm. I absolutely love oranges and grapefruit and couldn’t possibly entertain the idea of not bringing home fresh citrus from Florida, especially since it is citrus season! We ended up buying one of each of these bags, plus navel oranges from Al’s Family Farms in Vero Beach.

There will soon be a whole week of blog posts centered around this vacation. I have  few other projects to finish up first, so keep checking back!
