It is an honor to introduce my readers to Salem Ridge Press.  Founded in 2005 by homeschool graduate, Daniel Mills, this republishing company strives to bring back living books from the 1800s and early 1900s.  Although not every book is expressly Christian, the goal of this company is to publish wholesome books with a strong moral fiber, teaching positive character traits.

The company was founded on Philippians 4:8:

“Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever thing are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”

Judging from the titles I reviewed, I would say Salem Ridge Press is honoring this scripture and more than exceeding their goals.

I was given 4 books to look at–one hard cover and three ebooks. Ben and I read Soldier Fritz as a read-aloud, and Ben read Young Robin Hood. We haven’t had a chance to read the other 2 book we were given–Down the Snow Stairs and The White Seneca–but we will definitely read them.

These books are all the kinds of books we want our children to read, but can never find at the local library.  Rich, inspiring, character-building, honest books. What a blessing it is to have a company like Salem Ridge Press, republishing these titles for our children to read. You’ll want to find a special shelf on your bookcase for these; a shelf your kids can easily reach. They will be read over and over again.

Prices range from $10.95-24.95, with most books in the $10-15 range. Well worth the price for the excellent quality of these books.

I never recommend a product I would not use myself.
