Who doesn’t love maps? But how many times have you scurried around trying to find the perfect printable map? And how many times have you wished you could just tweak one you did find to suit your lesson?

Bright Ideas Press has the perfect solution for all your mapping needs (and a few you probably didn’t even know you needed . . . until now). It truly is wonderful.

Allow me to introduce you to WonderMaps. It has been awhile since I’ve been this excited about a new product. For history/geography loving families, WonderMaps will be a must-have for your homeschool!

WonderMaps is a software collection of over 350 different maps, designed with easy-to-use layers that will allow you to customize your map with a simple click of the mouse. Once you have created the map you desire, simply click “print” and you have the perfect map for your lessons in geography, history, or Bible. Use the maps to add to your notebook or print an outline map for labeling. The possibilities are limitless.

Your customizable options include:

  • historical or modern-day maps
  • outline, reference political, or topographical maps
  • black-and-white or color maps
  • features including: names, borders, rivers, cities, physical features, and graticules
The map choices include:
  • 60+ maps of the world
  • 60+ maps of the USA
  • 125 historical map, including 25 biblical maps
  • The complete map sets from The Mystery of History volumes I-III and All American History volumes I & II
Here’s a video tutorial to help you visually get an idea for how WonderMaps works:

In our study of American History, Ben and I have already used the maps for the original colonies and Lewis & Clark Expedition. One thing I absolutely loved about the Lewis & Clark map was the ability to add in the modern day map underlay. This made it very easy for Ben to see which states were originally apart of the Louisiana Territory! Taking the original colonies map down to outline form helped Ben quickly learn which states were a part of the 13 original colonies, as he labeled them. How cool is that?
As you pour over your curriculum choices, WonderMaps must be on your list. It will be useful for years to come, and while other purchases often seem fleeting, this software program has the lasting power that you always hope for when making a purchase. You will use it time and time again, year after year. It is, hands-down, our favorite addition to this school year thus far.
WonderMaps can be purchased for $49.95 from Timberdoodle. While you’re there, check out even more geography resources from Timberdoodle! Like WonderMaps, they do not disappoint.
