I love books. My husband often refers to our library (living room) as the Library of Marcy (think Library of Congress). We have bookshelves in practically every room of our house. We are overflowing with books of all types and genres, and I love it!
But we’re running out of room.
I was thrilled this past Christmas when I received a Kindle for Christmas. My husband refers to it as my new bookcase–no assembly required. He’s a funny guy!
I wasn’t sure I would like reading books from a Kindle, but I absolutely love it. I keep it in my purse at all times. I have pulled it out in car, at the hospital, on vacation, and since purchasing a light for it, in bed.
Ben loves it, too. But this is not a review for the Kindle. It is a review for Yesterday’s Classics. The tie-in? Yesterday’s Classics offers a set of 225 classic books for the Kindle! Don’t have a Kindle? The files are also available in EPUB format, so you may use them on your computer, iPad, Nook, iPhone, and other e-readers. If you are a classical or Charlotte Mason homeschooler, you are going to love this booklist!
You’ll find books in 22 genres, including: World History, Ancient Greece, Early Civilizations, Middle Ages, Renaissance and Exploration, Amerian History, Biography, Nature, Science, Fairy Tales, and Faith.
Some titles you’ll find include:
I received the books in 13 zip files and easily transferred them to my Kindle. Each title has a Table of Contents to make it easy to navigate from chapter to chapter. If the printed book had illustrations, then the ebooks do as well. In the Kindle, the illustrations are in black and white, but in the EPUB form, if they were originally in color, they will be in color in EPUB. I also received a list of the books by level, author, title, and genre, as well as a list of all the books with thumbnails and descriptions, making it easy to find books appropriate for Ben, matching his interests or the subjects we are studying.
I love the convenience of being able to carry 225 classic children’s books with us everywhere we go!
The books can be purchased individually or as a package of all 225. The regular price for the package is $149.95, but from now until May 31, 2011, you can get them for $99.95!
You can download a free copy of The Dutch Twins by Lucy Fitch Perkins to see what you think.
If you don’t have a Kindle, you can download Kindle for PC for free!
