The homeschool convention season is upon us and I am thrilled to be heading down to Spartanburg, SC to attend the Teach Them Diligently Convention next week!
I have been to several homeschool conventions over the past few years, but I think Teach Them Diligently will be special. Which is why I'm driving 6 hours to go!
From their website:
Teach Them Diligently is distinctive from many other homeschool conventions because the foundation will be discipleship, parenting, and missions. Academics and how-to workshops on homeschooling will be important, as will legal discussions regarding homeschooling, because it is an election year. But, discipleship will be the foundation, and we believe that it is the foundation for what so many Christian parents do every day as they educate their children. Another distinction is that all profits from the Teach Them Diligently Convention will go directly into mission endeavors.
Don't you just love that? I am in such agreement with this, it just makes my heart happy to read it. When I go to conventions, I always seek out the speakers who encourage me as a mom and teach me more about how to be a better discipler of my son, not just a more efficient homeschool teacher. Our focus in our own homeschool this year has been in discipleship, apologetics and missions. Also, it seems the trend lately for conferences to be more about profit-making than ministry, so I'm loving this emphasis on minstry and missions. I can't wait to get there and soak in the encouragement. I'm also thrilled to be a part of a special get-together with some other homeschool mom (and dad) bloggers. There are so many necks I just can't wait to hug!
Some of my favorite speakers will be there, too. Folks like Mark Hamby, Jeannie Fullbright, Ken Ham, Heather Laurie and Linda Hobar. There will also be a few I've never heard before but am really looking forward to, like Hal & Melanie Young, Israel Wayne, Zan Tyler and Voddie Baucham.
This is going to be an amazing weekend!
I hope to be able to blog and tweet from the convention. Be sure to follow the #hsttd hashtag! Lots of other bloggers will be tweeting as well.
If you're going to be at Teach Them Diligently, please leave me a comment. I will want to know you're there!
