I’m am very late getting this entry written, but I didn’t want to ignore it altogether!

Last month, we were able to visit Morristown, TN.  I talked a bit about here, in reference to my car troubles.  But I didn’t really talk much about the reason for our visit in that post.

Last summer, Ben and I did the Download N Go unit on Davy Crockett.  Ben has loved Davy Crockett since he was a little guy.  When he was 5, we visited the Alamo in San Antonio because of his obsession.  So when we found out that the Davy Crockett birthplace and Crockett Tavern, where he spent most of his childhood, were close by, in east Tennessee, we began making plans to visit.

As it turned out, I was to make a trip to that area in October for a work meeting, so I took Ben and Mom with me.  We met up with our friends Candace and Melissa, and their adorable kids, for a trip to Crockett Tavern.  We thought it would be a quick little tour and we would then head down to the Davy birthplace, but the Tavern tour ended up taking a couple of hours.  The curator of this museum, Ms. Sally, was a former history teacher, and since we were the only ones there, she took a lot of time showing us everything there was to see and giving us quite a history lesson as well.

We never made it to the birthplace, but that was ok.  We had a great time with our friends, and learned so much about this interesting man, we didn’t feel we missed out on much at all.  Here are a few pictures from our day:
