Confession: I am a night owl.

As a homeschooling mom who also works from home, it fits nicely that I’m able to stay up late into the night to accomplish those things more difficult to wrap up during our homeschool hours. Because Ben is also a night owl, it’s not unusual for me to be up way past midnight and to sleep in until 10am, starting our school day around noon.

There’s just one problem.

Life.

It seems that not everyone else in the world is on this kind of schedule. Sometimes field trips, play dates, or dental appointments happen earlier in the day. Imagine that? It’s always a little stressful when I realize that the educational day in our state capital (an hour away) begins at 8am, or the doctor’s office insists that the only appointment is at 9. Out of necessity, I have developed a few strategies to make our morning routine go a little more smoothly on those days.

If you are like me (or even if you are not), here are some tips for speeding up your morning bathroom routine, so even as a night owl, you can get to those early appointments on time.

Get your clothes ready

Go ahead and decide what you’re going to wear and lay it out in the bathroom the night before. Don’t forget your under-garments, socks and shoes. It’ll be super easy to just slip it all on as you begin the rest of your bathroom routine.

Skip the shower

You don’t have time. If you planned ahead, maybe you took one the night before. But, whether you did or not, you’ll want to ummmm . . . freshen up a bit. One of the best and quickest ways to do so is to use Cottonelle’s wet + dry combination.. Nothing apart from that shower you don’t have time for will leave you feeling cleaner or fresher all day. I recently discovered these products at Rite-Aid.

(go grab a coupon right now for $1 off. It’s okay . . . I’ll wait. P.S. the video is HILARIOUS!)

What to do with your hair?

There’s no time to wash and fix your hair. So, put it in a cute side pony tail or fashionable messy bun. Trust me, people will think you wore your hair like that on purpose. Every time I do a side pony, someone compliments me! Add a fun hat for extra style.

Skip the heavy make-up

Use a little moisturizer, add quick brush of mineral make-up, a little mascara and some lip gloss and you’re good to go. You will feel lighter and look more youthful without all of that caked on make-up and eyeliner anyway.

Brush and floss

Now brush and floss your teeth, and grab a quick breakfast. But first congratulate yourself. You just got ready for your field trip or doctor’s appointment in 15 minutes flat!

Now to get the kids ready.

Be sure to go grab your coupon for $1.00 off your purchase of Cottonelle Flushable Cleansing Cloths and Cottonelle Clean Care toilet paper. That’s the ticket to skipping your shower and will save you the most time of all! Warning: the kids will love this method, too. Just don’t tell them you skipped your shower for it. You may never get them in the bath again.

Have you ever tried the wet + dry combination yourself? Do you think you could skip the shower with this method, too?
