Every year since we’ve been homeschooling, Ben and I have made a tradition of NOT going back to school.
What?
It’s simple. On the first day of school for the public school system in our city, while kids are strapping on their backpacks and climbing aboard the big yellow bus, we make it a point NOT to do school that day. It’s a little rebellious, I know, but it’s also a great time for a field trip. Since it’s the first day of school, popular field trip sites for the schools have not yet been booked.
This year, we visited Ben’s all-time favorite local museum, the Frazier History Museum, and then had brunch at our favorite restaurant, Lynn’s Paradise Cafe (home of the ugly lamp contest). In past, we’ve gone to Waffle House or IHOP for breakfast, but since we were close to Lynn’s, we headed there instead.
Sweet friends joined us at the museum and I believe a good time was had by all ! Here are a few pictures from our day . . .
