I have been crazy busy getting ready for our trip home to Arkansas to spend Thanksgiving with my family. Just Ben and me. Dad will stay home to man the fort (and get some work done). Still, there’s much to do to get ready. And things with work are exciting and busy right now!
I didn’t have much time to really put together a lot of fun for Ben today (or this week, for that matter). He has been doing a wonderful job of staying on task with his history course — The Pilgrim Story — as well as math and language arts. Yesterday, he even pulled a new science book off the shelf and asked if he could, “do extra science.”
Today, when I reminded him that it was fun school day, he begged to do The Pilgrim Story anyway. He said that WAS fun school! (thank you, Dayspring Christian Academy!) I think he even did math and grammar.
But after that was done, I logged him on to SchoolhouseTeachers.com and told him to explore and see what he could find interesting and fun to learn!
Here is what he found:
4 weeks worth of Spanish lessons (he loves learning Spanish)
3 months worth of French lessons (which was “even more fun” because he’s never studied French!)
Some lessons about the people and culture of Nepal (he especially loved reading about the Sherpa and how they help climbers of Mt. Everest!)
Guitar lessons (guess what’s on his Christmas wish list now?)
Video science experiments — his favorite find of the day!
I’m sure he perused a few more spots, but these were the most notable.
Did he have fun? Oh yeah. In fact, he asked if I would buy more data time for the iPad, so he can explore SchoolhouseTeachers.com even more on our 11-hour drive Monday.
That sounds super fun to me!
