I’m putting together a quick unit study for next week, remembering 9/11. Like the generation before me who can remember exactly where they were when JFK was shot, I can remember exactly where I was when the events of September 11, 2001 occurred (sitting on my sofa, feeding a bottle to 9-month-old baby Ben, watching the Today Show.

I believe it is vitally important that our children understand the significant impact that this day on our nation’s history, stability, and safety. You can begin with elementary-aged children, gently introducing them to Patriot Day with this list of resources. It includes mostly picture books and unit study info for younger learners.

For older students, you can step up the study to include learning more about Islam and Al Qaeda. This resources list primarily targets middle school learners.
