Once again, Ben and I have been provided the opportunity to review an item that was absolutely perfect for us!

Corps of Re-Discovery is a homeschool family-owned company, providing hands-on, enrichment craft tools to enhance your studies of Native Americans, Pioneer and Colonial times, and Frontiersman.  We received the kit to make a Fringe Pouch.

We had already spent some time learning about Davy Crockett earlier this year and were planning a trip to Crockett Tavern in TN, so adding in this kit was perfect timing.  Ben absolutely loved it!

The kit comes with everything you need, including: needle and thread, drawstring, pre-cut, pre-punched leather pieces, and easy instructions.  Ben (age 9) was able to do this kit completely independently, after a little help with the sewing in the beginning.  Your younger children might need more assistance with the sewing. Ben was able to complete the project in about 30 minutes.  He now has a little pouch to store his treasures.  You know, things like rocks, Lego men, and some Australian coins. He loves wearing it with his coon tail cap and his Kentucky Long Rifle while exploring the woods out back for bears, or……..squirrels.

Corps of Re-Discovery has many options perfect for gift-giving or adding that extra hands-on experience to your homeschool.  We’ll be studying about Lewis & Clark later this year, and several items will be in Ben’s Christmas stocking to go along with that unit.

The Fringe Pouch Kit is usually priced at $14.99.  I noticed that it’s currently on sale for $11.99. I’m not sure how long that will last though.  It’s also available in a Frontier Craft Pack for $80.95 (on sale now for $71.92), which also includes a coon tail hat kit, a Possibles Bag kit, a Tomahawk Kit, a Powder Horn, and a Kentucky Pistol.

If you’re looking for good quality kits to go along with your early American history studies, or fun gifts for your boys and girls (yes, there are great ideas for girls as well), I don’t think you can go wrong with items from Corps of Re-Discovery!

The TOS Crew reviewed several different items from this company.  You can check all the reviews on the Crew’s blog.
