There is nothing better than the smells of Christmas — pine needles, cinnamon, and other spices are warming, uplifting, and instantly put me into the Christmas Spirit. In past years, I often searched the local mall for a candle with just the right scent. But now that I no longer burn toxic candles in my home, I needed an essential oil blend for the diffuser,  to give me that same sweet aroma.

I think you’ll love this mix of scents as much as I do. And the big bonus? This blend is relaxing and destressing — exactly what we all need to get through the rush of the upcoming holiday season.

Winter Holiday Essential Oil Blend for the Diffuser

50 drops Fir Needle

25 drops Cinnamon Leaf

25 drops Nutmeg

25 drops Ginger

25 drops Peru Balsam

Directions

Add all essential oils to a 10cc glass bottle (like these).  Screw cap on tightly and invert the bottle to blend the oils. Do not shake. Add 5 or 6 drops to the water in your diffuser (or an amount according to your diffuser’s instructions) and diffuse intermittently throughout the day.

Tie a pretty ribbon around the bottle with a card or label listing all of the ingredients, and you will have a lovely gift for your essential oil-loving friends or family.

Precautions

Never use essential oils undiluted, in the eyes or mucus membranes. Do not ingest unless working with a qualified practitioner. Keep essential oils away from children. If applying an essential oil to your skin always perform a small patch test to an insensitive part of the body (after you have properly diluted the oil in an appropriate carrier oil).
