Q is for Quit

Fact: I have a condition, called Lupus.
Fact: Lupus causes many problems for me, among them chronic pain, fatigue, insomnia, and migraines.
Fact: Two years ago when I was (officially) diagnosed, I quit.

I quit trying.
I quit trying to lose weight.
I quit trying to exercise regularly.
I quit trying to regulate my sleep patterns.
I quit trying to declutter and organize my house.
I just quit.
I talked about doing all of these things. But in reality, I didn’t do much of anything. Even on days when I have felt like exercising, decluttering, or organizing, I’ve still acted like a quitter. It just became a habit. Quitting was easier.
Truth: And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. (Galatians 6:9)

Truth: But you, take courage! Do not let your hands be weak, for your work shall be rewarded.” (2 Chronicles 15:7)

Truth: For if the readiness is there, it is acceptable according to what a person has, not according to what he does not have. (2 Corinthians 8:12)

Truth: Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. (Matthew 11:28)

I shared with you the other day that my word for the year is create. And that one part of the meaning of create is to shape, mold, fine tune, give new form to. This is one area where I need to create some new habits . . .  and a new attitude.
Will it be hard some days? Of course
Will it be painful some days? Absolutely.
Do I need to do it anyway? Obviously, the answer to that is yes.
I cannot be a quitter any longer.
It’s time to stop being weary, weak, and heavy-laden. It’s time to claim the promises given to me in Scripture. It’s time to be courageous and strong, to not give up. It’s time to rest in Him, not on the couch.
It’s time to not quit.
It’s time to create.
