I’m beginning a week late, but I’ve decided to join in the Project 52 Photo Challenge over at Life with My 3 Boybarians. Darcy has chosen a theme for each week’s challenge. This week’s theme is “Made with Love”.
I know, you’re wondering what on earth this picture depicts and what it has to do with love.
A few weeks before Christmas, my sweet friend, Miriam, who works faithfully in local prison ministry, put out a call on Facebook for folks to help support an idea she had. She wanted to bless 700 inmates at our local women’s prison with gift bags. The bags would contain deodorant, toothpaste, a toothbrush, a bar of soap, candy, and a Christian bookmark. She had about 3 weeks to put this together. It would take a Facebook village to make it happen.
This picture was taken the day we gathered together to assemble the bags. This photo represents 700 bags of love.
“Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’
“Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’
“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’ ~Matthew 25:34-40
