It seems that with all there is to do outdoors and away from home, reading gets lost in the shuffle for Ben.
He likes to read, though I would not describe him as avid. There are lots of books loaded to his Kindle, and he often takes it and a flashlight to bed with him at night. I’ve not been a stickler though, for what he reads during his free time. It is free time, after all.
But this summer, in preparation for a more rigorous literature schedule in grade 7 (yes, Ben will be a seventh grader next school — I’m still not over that thought), I thought I would get him prepared by being more intentional with assigning reading for him over the summer.
I want to read more classics. I want him to read more classics. So, I’ve put together a list of Summer Classics for Boys. Perfect for some reading adventure! Because reading during the summer should scream adventure!
He must choose at least 5 of these books and read them sometime between June and August. Most were acquired free or cheap for his Kindle, and I will link to both print and Kindle editions for you when possible.
Treasure Island – Print Kindle
The Adventures of Tom Sawyer – Print Kindle
The Legends of King Arthur and His Knights – Print Kindle
The Call of the Wild – Print Kindle
Where the Red Fern Grows – Print Kindle
What classics are on the summer reading list for your sons?
