Today is the first day of 7th grade!
Of course, we won’t actually do any school today. The first day of school is cause for celebration. For us, that means breakfast at IHOP, followed by some kind of fun activity. I think we’ll probably spend some time with friends and maybe see a movie.
We are starting on a Wednesday for a reason. We’re easing into the school year with a celebration day, and then a couple of days of getting acclimated to new curriculum. I’m even going to do a little bit of math testing to get a better idea of where Ben needs some additional help in that area. We won’t really be on a full schedule for a couple of weeks.
I’ll also sit down with Ben this week to go over the goals and plans we’ve already laid out, to make sure we’re on the same page and nothing needs tweaking here at the beginning. Ben has always had a lot to say about his homeschooling, and as he grows older, I think this is more and more important. I want to make sure we’re both comfortable with decisions that were made a few weeks ago.
I’ll close this post by sharing this sweet pic of my boy, taken when he was in first grade. It’s amazing to see how much he has grown. I love the young man he is becoming — compassionate, thoughtful, funny. God has a lot in store for this boy. Praying every day for His guidance in all we plan and do.
