Bible programs are kind of like math at our house–it has often been difficult to find the right fit.  This past year, we found the perfect fit for math, and now it seems the same has happened for Bible!

Positive Action for Christ has a complete line of Bible study currcula for grades Kindergarten through 12, useful for both homeschools and Christian schools.  We have been using the 4th Grade book, Building Life Castles. From their website:

Our lives are like a castle that is being built into a strong and beautiful edifice. This concept is presented as the students study the New Testament, focusing on the life of Christ, the work of the Holy Spirit, and the life and writings of the Apostle Paul.

Using a combination of Bible readings, memory verses, critical thinking questions, puzzles, and vocabulary, this curriculum provides a thorough means by which your students can study the Bible.  Ben has really enjoyed it thus far, working mostly independently.  I remember one day listening to him read aloud about a few of Jesus’ miracles, when he just stopped, looked up at me, and said, “God is so awesome!”

I don’t think you can beat a Bible study where the awesomeness of God shines through!

The 4th Grade student book has 35 lessons, with each lesson covering one week of study. You can see a sample on their website. The teacher’s manual provides additional suggestions for activities and discussion, as well as quizzes, memory work, and answers to the student activities.  The cost is reasonable at $12.95 for the student book and $33.95 for the teacher’s book.

Ben wants to continue using this Bible curriculum for the remainder of this school year, and he has already asked for the Fifth Grade curriculum for next year.  I guess that says it all!
