Amazon has disclosed to affiliates that as of March 1, websites who send large amounts of traffic for free ebooks will be penalized by disqualifying the entire month’s earnings if too many free ebooks are downloaded through affiliate links.
While I don’t receive any compensation for sharing free Kindle books, I do get a small amount of money if a reader buys something else while visiting Amazon through my affiliate links. This has never affected the cost of products for my readers, and I have always been up front that I use affiliate links.
The money I have made has never added up to a large income for me, especially considering the amount of time I spend searching for great free ebooks, but it has been a nice little bit of change to offset the cost of homeschooling.
For now, I plan to discontinue sharing my daily freebies posts, though I will continue to post a few great finds on Facebook. If something changes (I’m sure there will be a huge outcry over this), then I may reconsider in the future.
I continue to appreciate it when you use my Amazon affiliate search box (found on the sidebar of my blog) any time you are shopping at Amazon. Thank you very much to those of you who do that faithfully!
