I hope you have been enjoying the Start with John challenge. I know I have loved reading the Gospel of John once again. And it’s been even more meaningful with the free app provided on the Start with John website.
If you have also enjoyed the free app as an adjunct to reading the book of John as much as I have, you’ll want to know about the Filament Bible NLT. I mentioned it yesterday in my post about a lesson in love, but let me take a moment to tell you more about this beautiful Bible because the rest of the books of the Bible are available with the Filament Bible app that comes as part of the package when you purchase the Filament Bible.
The Filament Bible is completely unique Bible experience that combines the simplicity of a print Bible with the ability to dig deeper with the app (just like you’ve hopefully been doing with the Gospel of John app). While I enjoy having the convenience of a Bible, I much prefer a print Bible. This one is light enough to take with you anywhere, but when you’re ready to dig in a little (or a lot) deeper, simply grab your phone and scan the Bible pages you are reading. Each page of the Filament Bible has a code that will immediately connect you to study notes, interactive charts and maps, videos, devotions, and more. The print Bible is elegant, single column with generous margins and font size.
I have not spent much time with the New Living Translation (NLT) in the past, but I have enjoyed this more contemporary translation. According to Tyndale:
The New Living Translation combines the latest biblical scholarship with a clear, dynamic writing style that communicates God’s Word powerfully to all who hear and read it. It renders the message of the original texts of Scripture into clear, contemporary English that was written to be read aloud. With a focus on clarity, The New Living Translation invites readers to go deeper into the biblical text to discover God’s story for their lives and the world.
You should know that the app does not contain the Bible text, but is meant to be used as an adjunct to the Bible. rather than a replacement of the printed Word. I have loved using it as I study the book of John this month and am excited to continue using it with the rest of my Bible study. I haven’t seen anything else out there as easy to use. I especially think it’s a great tool for young or new believers who are just beginning to study the Bible. With the ease of language of the NLT translation coupled with the app, anyone just starting to learn about the Bible will be well-equipped.
